Dear LCCC Community

Heading into week 11 of Ontario’s state of emergency and shutdown of our centre due to COVID-19, we want to touch base with all of you. We truly hope that you and your families are doing well through this difficult time and we hope that we will soon have more guidance from the City on how we will move forward in the coming weeks.

The Ontario Coalition for Better Childcare (OCBCC) and the Association of Early Childhood Educators Ontario (AECEO), are urging leaders to support a safe and financially viable childcare reopening. Please participate! There are many things to consider when reopening, and with one-click you can send a message to your federal and provincial politicians telling them to support child care from reopening to recovery. Your email will be sent to your MP, MPP, and federal and provincial government and opposition leaders.

According to an OCBCC/AECEO report , "In addition to full public funding, staff and administrators need clear provincial guidelines and training from public health, increased paid sick and emergency leave days, smaller group sizes, additional staff and supports and paid planning time before reopening.”  As always, we will update you as soon as we have more information.

Here is a link to an article in The Toronto Star highlighting the report and its recommendations for recovery.

Thank you for your support at this time,

LCCC Team.
