Please note: We still do not have date for when we will reopen.

Today Doug Ford announced he would "lay out a phased plan for reopening childcare safely and gradually, so we can support parents as they return to work” sometime next week. To do that we are going to need alot of support from our families as well as our community.

We have attached a letter from Carolyn Ferns ( Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care ) that details how YOU can help advocate for your children below!

Last week we shared  From Reopening to Recovery: A Plan for Child Care Reopening in Ontario and Moving to a Publicly Funded SystemThis report, written in collaboration with the AECEO and based on their extensive survey of the child care sector, includes 27 detailed recommendations for government on how to achieve a safe reopening and put child care at the core of social and economic recovery.

The response to the report and recommendations from across the child care sector has been tremendous. But we know that if we want a chance to see this plan become reality, we need to get loud. We are launching our Reopening to Recovery campaign to help more people raise their voices to their elected officials on child care issues.

The OCBCC and AECEO are hosting a public Zoom meeting for parents on Tuesday June 9th and 7:30pm- 8:30pm to discuss how we can advocate for child care in this moment. If we want to ensure a safe reopening for all, we need to take our message straight to our MPs and MPPs.

Stay safe and hope to see you online next week!!

Carolyn Ferns

Additionally,  in recent news an article titled "Daycares fear loss of ECEs, spaces as Ontario bars using its grants for wages" outlines the concerns the childcare sector is currently facing regarding financial support from the province.  By contacting your MPP, MP and attending the above zoom you can help ensure we are able to reopen safely.

Thank you for your continued support.
