Ontario will mark September 19, 2022, as a provincial Day of Mourning. The people of Ontario may observe a moment of silence at 1 p.m. on that day. Ontarians have an opportunity to reflect on the remarkable life of Queen Elizabeth II and her unrelenting commitment to service and duty.

There will be several commemorations on September 19 at 1 p.m. in Toronto and throughout Canada as we join people throughout the Commonwealth in mourning the long reign of The Queen.

These include:

Minute Bells will toll 96 times to mark the late Queen’s age starting at 1 p.m.at from the Tower at Old City Hall.

On this day we will learn about the many contributions the Queen made to the people of Ontario, Canada, and the entire Commonwealth throughout the world.

We will recommend children’s books, share videos, and facts about her life. We can have open discussions about her life and legacy within the world as the longest-reigning monarch in British history.
