Kwameah Anoush Bennett

Executive Director

Hello, my name is Kwameah Anoush Bennett. I started this journey in the childcare sector when I was 18 years old. I have always had a passion for working with children. I was usually the one having more conversations with the children than the adults. I worked in every age group and even in the kitchen! I graduated from George Brown College and started my career as an RECE in the school-age program in the St. Lawrence area of downtown Toronto. I moved to the Etobicoke area 10 years ago with my husband and 2 children. I have a 10-year-old son and a 20-year-old daughter. I recently became the Director at LCCC last year in February and it has definitely been a bit of a roller coaster ride, however this really couldn't have been a better time to support this amazing community! A fun fact about me is I secretly want to be a voice actor for children's animated films and TV shows. I pride myself on doing my best to support the families, children, staff and the community. I hope to continue to do so for many years to come.

Charlotte mary

De Souza

Assistant Director

Hello, my name is Charlotte de Souza and I am the Assistant Director at Lakeshore Community Childcare Centre. I am originally from Trinidad and moved to Canada in 2008. I got my Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Ryerson University and my Bachelor of Education from York University. I have had the opportunity to work with children and families in a few provinces and territories in Canada and have recently settled into living and working in this great community. I am passionate about social justice and environmental education and love weaving this into my programming. I enjoy creating a culture of caring and inclusiveness wherever I go and hope to make connections and continue to gain inspiration from families and colleagues in my childcare journey. In my spare time, my favourite thing to do is spend time outside, specifically walking through trees, looking at animals and plants.

Annabel Fernandes

Program Supervisor

Hello, my name is Annabel Fernandes. I am the Program Supervisor at LCCC. This centre has always been a part of my life. Watching my mother work here and attending LCCC as a child myself, I knew from a young age that I wanted to work with children. I am glad that I’ve gotten the chance for my career to grow where I grew up in. I graduated from George Brown College in 2013 with a diploma in Early Childhood Education. After graduating, I worked in the Preschool and School-age Rooms. Shortly after I became the Before and After school-age Supervisor which was a goal I had set for myself. I'm glad I could use the knowledge I have gained in rooms to apply it to my new position as a Program Supervisor. I can help my colleagues and the centre attain the goals we have set for ourselves. My background is Portuguese and I speak Portuguese fluently. In my downtime, I enjoy doing Portuguese folklore dancing. I became the leader of the group and we have performed in many different places in Ontario and also travelled to the United States to perform. Travelling has always been a passion of mine. I have been going to Portugal since I was a baby, recently when I travelled to Portugal I have been adding another country to the trip. I can't wait to visit different countries again.

Nadia Monroe

Administrative Assistant/ Float

My name is Nadia. My parents migrated to Canada from Jamaica in the late seventies. I've learned a lot from their struggles of being in a new country and all the hard work it took to raise children, work hard and be a part of a community that was all new to them. I hold them responsible for my great work ethic and dedication to my work life and home life. I'm a mother of two boys and have worked at LCCC since 2005. I left in 2007 to pursue my education in Social Work. I returned in 2012 with ease as it's always been like a home to me. I was a School-age teacher until Sept. 2019, it was a great experience for me. I was able to get close and develop a relationship with the children and the parents. Also, I learned how to run a program for such a dynamic group of children. I am currently the Float/Administrative Assistant. I love being able to work in various rooms as well as the kitchen, it allows me to gain more knowledge and experience. My children have also been a part of the LCCC family as children who attended the centre and my eldest son who was a dishwasher. It goes to show that LCCC is an integral part of the community. In my downtime, I enjoy cooking. My passion for cooking has led me to opening my own catering business.
