‘Mother's Day’ is a day set aside to express love, respect and thanks to mothers. As educators it is important for us to make sure we can recognize and include 'diverse' families as well. So to honour and include them, we will also call this ‘Grown Ups Who Love Us’ day.
These inclusive celebrations can serve as important learning experiences by providing opportunities to discuss and acknowledge the many kinds of families in our communities and the many caregivers who are in children’s lives.
On this day, it is observed by giving gifts, visiting, or taking the ones who love us out to celebrate them. While flowers, chocolates and loving words are always wonderful, homemade gifts are just another special way to show your appreciation!
Here are a few things some of the LCCC kids have been working so hard on this week for Mother‘s Day/ Grown Ups Who Love Us Day! It will definitely be something they will cherish for years to come and there is nothing sweeter than receiving a handmade gift from a loved one.
