JUNE is PRIDE MONTH!

An Annual 2SLGBTQ+ Pride Celebration

Annually every June, the 2SLGBTQ+ community celebrates in a number of different ways to celebrate and recognize the influence 2SLGBTQ+ people have had around the world. The reason why we celebrate in June is because of the Stonewall Riots in June 1969. It is a month long celebration so it can raise awareness. Parades in streets, community events, festivals and educational awareness are often held by members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community and supporters!.

It is a MOVEMENT

It is a movement that celebrates the diversity of 2SLGBTQ+ people . It is a way of protesting about discrimination and violence against them and to promotes their dignity, equal rights, representation, gender identity, self-affirmation and is a way of increasing society’s awareness of the issues they face.

We want to encourage the resilience of 2SLGBTQ+ youths and adults. To celebrate the joys of existence and community, reflect on continued barriers that will lead to security and the well-being for those impacted by transphobia, homophobia, and intersecting marginalization.

Have you noticed this flag?

Many schools and homes carry this flag with pride. This flag is raised to celebrate and show support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

In Toronto, the flag is scheduled to be raised every June 1st between 1:00pm-2:00pm

It will be hosted by The City of Toronto. Pride Month will begin with Mayor John Tory proclaiming June as Pride Month and the virtual raising of the Trans and Rainbow Flags.

How can we celebrate Pride this 2021?

We may not be able to march together this year, but we are still here to honour and celebrate 2SLGBTQ+

We are still a community. We are still in this together. We are still helping reduce social isolation, helping connect people together, and affirming the identities, feelings, emotions, and experiences of young queer and trans folks. LCCC continues to support these young people, individuals and families.

We value you and remember... you are part of a community every day.

LOVE IS LOVE
